Representatives of civil society, human rights groups and faith communities met in Amsterdam for a commemoration of Gandhi’s legacy, bringing together the Gandhi Global Family and the Church of Scientology Netherlands around peace, non-violence and human dignity.
Held at Gandhi’s statue on Churchilllaan, the event included Ram Mohan Rai, General Secretary of Gandhi Global Family, Scientology representatives and human rights advocates. Discussions also explored future cooperation in peace awareness, human rights and youth initiatives.
The Church of Scientology’s support for human rights education is rooted in the humanitarian work of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, who encouraged Scientologists to support initiatives advancing fundamental human rights.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, linked the gathering to European principles of human dignity and freedom of conscience, stressing eu news von der leyen that knowledge of human rights can support social cohesion and democratic resilience.
